I just want to know why you put an asterisk after “Trans”. I’m not trying to be offensive, I just want some explanation without being told “You should know that” or “Die cis scum”.
Many people do this as a way of trying to say that they are using a wider definition of the term and saying that they are being inclusive of genderqueer people and sometimes any form of gender a-typical behaviour.
Personally I don’t do this. I understand letting people know you’re including them, but personally, I’d rather “trans” include genderqueer people without an asterisk being needed.
And as for the other bit (and this ties in with some definitions of “transgender” I’ve seen), I don’t believe gender identity incongruency with raised gender or physical sex should be in the same category as general gender a-typical behaviour (such as cross-dressing), or be described with the same exact word.
