So a moth just flew into my room (like right a few minutes ago). I looked at it as it flew around the light.
Looking at the light. It was bright.
I looked away and then couldn’t read, of course, as the light after-image was directly in front of my vision.
I blinked some more, and, I could see this pattern eventually, out of the after-image. It became clearer. There were 3, which was odd. My mind must have gotten confused, or possibly it was because I had looked at it from different angles.
But the pattern was, well, I drew it in paint. Different colours of course, it was the colours of after-image light and no-light for the lines.
I was confused though. This image, it wasn’t shaped like the light.
Why was this in my head? It was well defined and regular, my drawing isn’t exact sadly.
After drawing it, I decided to look at the light bulb again.
I couldn’t see the pattern. But, it was shaped with curvy U shapes. A few of them.
I tried from a different angle. THERE! I saw what the pattern had come from, what I hadn’t even noticed when I originally looked at it as it was just brightness to me then, but had been stored in my eyes for later observation. I had viewed it from an angle where I could see the curve of some of the tubey bits, then to the right, is where they came back up, and were then going straight.
Flattened on my eyes and my brain didn’t view the after-image with the intention of perceiving depth. But there it was.
Intriguing.
